Time for Toileting

What do occupational therapists do with kids? Pediatric occupational therapists help children of various ages participate and build independence in activities they do every day. One important skill that we target is toileting. For many of the children we work with, potty training can be a very challenging process and we are here to help!

The first step of potty training is to identify if your child is ready. They will often begin to express interest in using the toilet or may start to tell you when their diaper is dirty, showing increased awareness that indicates they may be ready to try the toilet.

If you have been struggling with getting your child to sit on the toilet or they seem to be unaware when they need to use the restroom, pediatric occupational therapy services may help. To help with potty training, we are able to provide sensory and behavioral strategies to best support your child’s individual needs.
