Pediatric Physical Therapy

Physical therapy covers a broad array of conditions for the pediatric population. From rehabilitation after an injury to treating premature babies and children with congenital or acquired conditions that effect their development. Education is also an essential part of our practice. Additionally, parental involvement with a therapy program is key to a successful outcome.

We treat various conditions ranging from injuries such as sprains, strains, and fractures to congenital anomalies such as Down Syndrome and Torticollis. Also, neurological injuries resulting in developmental delays, Cerebral Palsy, and difficulties with mobility and daily functions.
Every child is different and is treated so at Sensory Solutions. Firstly, every patient is given one on one treatment with a board-certified Physical Therapist. Secondly, an individualized therapy plan includes a home exercise program for parents and caregivers to reach specific goals.

Pediatric PT

Treatment sessions will include various activities depending on the child and the goals of treatment. We focus on improving a child’s function within their home and community environments. For example, physical therapy can help improve a child’s strength, range of motion, posture, balance, endurance, and mobility skills, including crawling and walking. We may also recommend orthotics to improve foot positioning and walking skills or durable medical equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs.

Some of the conditions commonly seen for physical therapy services are prematurity, torticollis, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities, hypotonia, and developmental delay. If you have concerns regarding your child’s development, talk with your pediatrician and look for delays with gross motor milestones such as:
