Why is tummy time important?

Tummy time seems small but just a few minutes a day can make such a big difference. Just a few minutes a day can help build strength, skills and help with your child’s development.

  1. Builds strong muscles: neck, upper body, core and back, arms and shoulders.
  2. Helps prevent flat head on the back since babies spend so much time lying on their back.
  3. Supports motor skills: reaching for toys, pushing up on arms, turning head from side to side.
  4. Encourages sensory exploration: gives babies a whole new angle to view the world, explores different textures and senses and gives caregivers a chance to get down on the floor face to face.
